A decade of impunity has ended, but the wounds produced by gender violence and
the assassinations of women do not heal, on the contrary, the impunity infects
and rots the social texture. Here, in infected zones, the political and
economical power, drug-traffic, and absolute incompetence of crime investigation
stir on high temperature. It is hard to find the firm intention to discover the
responsible people.
Here it is unworthy to even repeat the complaints, which represent a total lack
of respect towards the victim’s families. It is frightening to observe how the
government does not even want to give clear information about numbers. All that
has happened in the last decade, does not need any additional comment. One just
needs to make aware of the social decomposition and the collapse of institutions
of justice that support a paradise of impunity. Female assassinations cause a
progression of violent acts that start with the emotional and psychological
violence, the beating, the torture, rape, prostitution, sexual abuse, incest,
genital mutilations, domestic violence and all other violent acts that derive
from the deaths of women, tolerated by the government.
We demand immediate and urgent actions to discover the identity of the
assassinators. We need a justice that listens, watches, and speaks.
Finally, we cannot be with the victims at the moment of their assassination,
however, we will be there to testify the detention of those who killed them.
If there is no justice and resolution of the cases, our community will continue
with open wounds and this type of gender violence will go on. It is a shame to
confirm what statistics show us: if the killings continue as they did until now,
in 2010 already sixty-two women may be assassinated each year.
